Emergency Doctors Dawn Todd, DVM Dr. Dawn Todd is a 1991 graduate of Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Todd relocated to Michigan where she initially worked in private practice. She has been a full time emergency and critical care clinician since 1994. Dr. Todd practiced in a large specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in the Detroit metro area before relocating back to the Midwest. Dr. Todd has been a full time emergency clinician at Midwest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center since it's opening in 2003. Her special interests include emergency surgery and internal medicine.
Dr. Todd is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
When not concentrating on veterinary medicine, Dr. Todd is a fly-ball enthusiast, and spends quality time with her husband, daughter and menagerie of pets.
Stephanie Torfin, DVM Dr. Stephanie Torfin is a 202 graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Torfin gained several years experience in emergency medicine as a technician. In 2003 she completed an emergency and critical care internship at the Animal Emergency Center in Wisconsin. She has been a full time member of the emergency team at Midwest Veterinary Referral and Emergency since 2004.
Outside of work, Dr. Torfin enjoys reading and spending time with her husband. Together they pursue activities such as rollerbladding, hiking with their dogs, and traveling.
Jacinda Christie, DVM Dr. Christie is a 2004 graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Christie joined the emergency team at Midwest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in 2005. Dr. Christie's interests include trauma, soft tissue surgery, and toxicology.
Outside of work, Dr. Christie enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and is an avid sports fan.
Dr. Caywood received a DVM from the University of Missouri in 1975 and a MS in Surgery, Radiology and Anesthesiology from the University of Minnesota in 1978. After completing a small animal internship and surgical residency at the University of Minnesota in 1978, he joined their faculty in the Department of Small Animal Surgery. He was certified by the AmericanCollege of Veterinary Surgeons in 1981 and was Professor of General and Orthopedic Small Animal Surgery at the University of Minnesota until 1998. He has published numerous research papers and lectured extensively to veterinarians worldwide. Dr. Caywood was in a private specialty surgery practice in Minneapolis/St. Paul from 1995-2006. He joined Pfizer Animal Health as a Veterinary Specialist-Surgery/Rehabilitation in 2006 and continues to practice surgery at MidwestVeterinaryReferral & EmergencyCenter in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Dr. Caywood became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist in 2008.
